In partnership with the Vernon Senior Center, Vernon Housing Authority, and Rockville General Hospital, the Rockville Public Library has received $4,444 in grant funding from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, New England Region, for our project Vernon Walks: Promoting Health Literacy and Community Fitness in Vernon/Rockville. During the one-year grant project period the library will provide health information workshops as well as regular fitness classes, including tai-chi, yoga, and a walking club. The library will also add up-to-date health and fitness books and DVDs to the Rockville Public Library collection, develop a pedometer lending program, and establish health information terminals in multiple locations in town.
