CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY
- Talking loudly, making noise, or engaging in disruptive conduct that disturbs others is not allowed. This extends to the outdoor property of the library, walkways, the driveway and the parking lot areas.
- Activities (such as blocking sidewalks, doorways, or aisles) which impede access to the building and its materials are not permitted.
- Activities (such as skateboarding, rollerblading, bicycling or running) that present safety hazards are not permitted on library grounds.
- Loud and boisterous behavior and or physical or verbal harassment of others is prohibited.
- Persons engaging in any of the above behaviors may be asked to leave. If they persist in such behaviors the police will be called.
- Solicitation or sale of items is not permitted on library property with the exception of library fundraising activities.
- Food and beverages not in a covered container are not allowed in the library unless they are provided at a library-approved event.
- Patrons must wear shoes and attire appropriate to a public setting at all times.
- Smoking or other use of tobacco is not permitted.
- Library telephones are for business use. Phones may be used by patrons with the permission of the staff in cases of emergency.
- Animals are not permitted (except for guide dogs).
- The materials and equipment in the library are for patron and staff use. Any purposeful damage to the materials, equipment, furniture, building or other property of the library is against the law and will be reported to the police.
- Library staff is not responsible for a person’s belongings. Personal belongings should not be left unattended.
- Should the security alarm signal, patrons should be prepared to show that all library materials have been checked out.
- Computers, cell phones, radios, or tape players with headphones may be used in the library with the permission of the staff on duty as long as the equipment is not disruptive to others.
