The Friends of Rockville Public Library

The Friends of RPL is a 501c3 non-profit voluntary organization whose mission is to raise funds for the library, help sponsor programs and special events at the library, and in the community.

Join us at our next meeting at noon on Thursday, April 6th in the first floor meeting room when our guest speaker will be the director of the Vernon Senior Center, Maureen Gabriele. Remember to check out our list of museum passes which are available under Collections. Happy Spring!!

As always, you don’t have to be a member to attend our meetings, all are welcome. If you would like to become a member, applications can be found online on the libraries website under “Support” and then Friends.

With funds raised this year through continuing to ask our community to donate either receipts or money from bottle returns, dropped off or mailed to the library identifying Friends on the envelope, we have been able to continue to provide museum passes to our library card holders as well as provide the gift cards for the library’s summer reading program readers. Most museum passes can be obtained on the library website under Collections and the few that can’t, can be obtained at the circulation desk. The Friends also provide the monthly Booklist which can be found at the circulation desk.

Projects in which the Friends take part include

Homebound book delivery
Supporting children’s and adult programming
Annual Holiday Cookie Sale in December
Purchasing museum passes for library cardholders
Purchasing subscription to monthly “Booklist”

New members are welcome at any time. Dues are flexible and begin as low as $5. If you are interested in joining, please pick up an application at the library or call (860) 875-5892 x 1, and request that an application is mailed to you. To download an application you can print and mail in, please click Friends Application
